Introduction To Multicultural Literature

Welcome to Unveiling Literature: A Multicultural Approach. This is a blog that talks about literature from all around the world. I am excited that you guys are here. So who is this for?

• This blog is for those who are Enthusiasts for Literature.

• For High School Teachers who would like some direction or some fresh material to bring to the students to study.

What are we going to focus in this blog?

• We are going to cover select readings and I will provide a quick summary and some links that will help explain further the material. It will also help if you read before hand. I will also provide some tools for high school students to do. It’s a reflection sheet that will help the students comprehend what they just read.

• We are also going to cover the theme of the select literature pieces. This is to grasp the jest of the human experience and how we can relate to it. I found it very relatable to my own life. I believe you will also.

So What Is Global Literature?

So if we look up the definition of the word “Global” we see that it refers to worldwide. The main synonym that I want to focus on is all-inclusive. So these themes are more focused on the human experience of different situations and they are relatable because we have once experienced one of these types of situations that happen in the selections.

Blending Nationalities

The 20^th Century has a lot of blending nationalities. There is a lot of people have moved from different countries, live in other countries and they get experience their culture. They also have to understand the new culture and adapt to it. Also there are some people are of mixed ancestry as for all of us. So it’s very common to see blended nationalities during this 20^th Century.

No Such Thing As A Pure Identity

Because there are some blended nationalities, it is very common for one to be confused about which culture to support. The nationality they were born into or the ethnicity that they inherit from their parents. It seems because of that they try to blend the cultures together. That is why its more common to see blended identities. There is no such thing as a pure identity because of travel, living in other countries, marrying those form other countries, adapt other cultures that are different, and having a blended family.
